Location: Remote (Global)
Employment Type: Co-Development / Partnership
Compensation: Profit Sharing Agreement (3.5%)
About the Position
Flawky Studios is seeking a master storyteller to serve as Lead Narrative Designer for our unannounced “Indo-Gothic” Action-RPG.
We are building a world where traditional Dark Fantasy meets the corrupted beauty of Indian architecture and mythology. We need a writer who can breathe life into this setting someone who understands that in an Action-RPG, the lore is often hidden in the shadows, not spoken in cutscenes. You will define the history, the dialogue, and the haunting atmosphere of the world.
Note: You will work closely with the Level Designer and Game Director to ensure the story is told through the environment itself, not just through text.
Key Responsibilities
1. World Building & Lore
• The World Bible: Construct the comprehensive history, theology, and magic systems of the world. You will define the origins of the “Corruption” and the ancient civilization that fell to it.
• Indo-Gothic Fusion: Weave a narrative tapestry that blends grimdark fantasy tropes with South Asian mythology and philosophy, creating a setting that feels unique and culturally rich.
2. Narrative Design & Flow
• Quest Design: Write compelling quest lines that offer meaningful choices. You will structure main missions and side content to ensure they feel organic to the world, avoiding “fetch quest” fatigue.
• Environmental Storytelling: collaborate with artists to tell stories without words. (e.g., Positioning a skeleton holding a letter, or a mural depicting a forgotten war). The world itself must be the narrator.
3. Dialogue & Scriptwriting
• Character Voices: Write sharp, character-driven dialogue for NPCs and Bosses. Each character must have a distinct “voice” and motivation.
• Bark & Combat Lines: Write the dynamic lines enemies shout during combat to increase immersion and provide gameplay cues.
4. Item Descriptions (Flavor Text)
• The “Souls” Method: Write cryptic and engaging descriptions for weapons, armor, and key items. In our game, players will piece together the true story by reading the history of the objects they find.
Qualifications
• Experience: You should be an experienced Writer or Narrative Designer with a portfolio of creative writing, screenplays, or game scripts.
• Tone Mastery: A strong ability to write in a “Dark Fantasy” or “Grim” tone. You understand how to write horror, tragedy, and mystery without being melodramatic.
• Game Literacy: You understand how interactive storytelling differs from books or movies. You know how to write for players, not just readers.
Compensation & Partnership
This position is structured as a high-stake partnership.
• Profit Sharing: You will be awarded a legally binding share of 3.5% of the Game’s Net Profit following commercial release.
• Creative Ownership: You will have significant autonomy over the lore and story direction.
• Attribution: You will be fully credited as Lead Narrative Designer in the game and marketing materials.
