Senior Environment Artist

Location: Remote (Global)

Employment Type: Contract / Partnership

Compensation: Profit Sharing Agreement (5.5%)

About the Position

Flawky Studios is seeking a highly skilled 3D Environment Artist with strong Technical Art capabilities. You will be responsible for defining the visual fidelity of our unannounced Action-RPG, building high-quality modular assets and the dynamic systems that bring them to life.
This is a critical role that blends artistic composition with shader logic. You will not only build the Citadel and its surrounding ruins but also implement the “Corruption System”—a visual mechanic where the environment decays and shifts in real-time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Modular World Building

Create high-fidelity, reusable asset kits that allow for efficient level design.
Architecture: Model and texture modular kits (Walls, Floors, Pillars, Ruins) optimized for Unreal Engine 5.
Props & Set Dressing: Create narrative-driven props (furniture, debris, ancient machinery) that tell the story of the world.

2. Dynamic Shaders & The “Corruption System”
You will architect the master materials that allow the world to change during gameplay.
 • Master Materials: Build complex, scalable Master Materials in UE5 that support vertex painting and runtime parameter changes.
 • Visual Corruption: Implement the shader logic that allows foliage, ground textures, and walls to visually “decay” or darken based on the player’s Corruption Meter.

3. Texturing & Optimization
 • PBR Workflow: Create realistic PBR materials using Substance Designer and Substance Painter.
 • Optimization: Manage texel density and utilize Nanite workflows to ensure high visual fidelity without sacrificing performance.

4. Environmental Storytelling
 • Collaborate with the Level Designer to place assets in a way that guides the player and hints at the history of Malachi and the Citadel.

Qualifications

 • Portfolio: A strong ArtStation portfolio demonstrating Environment Art, Modular Kits, and Material studies.
 • Technical Stack: Proficiency in Blender/Maya, Substance Suite, and Unreal Engine 5.
 • Shader Proficiency: Strong understanding of the UE5 Material Editor (Material Functions, Parameter Collections, World Position Offset)
 • Optimization: Understanding of Nanite, Lumen, and texture memory budgets.

Compensation & Partnership

This position is structured as a high-stake partnership.
 • Profit Sharing: You will be awarded a legally binding share of 5.5% of the Game’s Net Profit following commercial release.
 • Creative Attribution: Under our Idea Attribution Program, unique environmental designs or lore-based visual storytelling you contribute will be formally credited to you.
